I returned to Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora in 2026 to clear a few side quests I had left behind, and Sa'nop's A Meal and a Memory at the High Loom camp immediately reminded me why I keep a notepad beside my controller. The quest is simple on paper: bring Sa'nop rare ingredients, cook a dish, eat it, and report back. In practice, I spent my first hour harvesting common Shell Fruit and wondering why the quest tracker refused to budge. The answer, as it turns out, is rarity. Sa'nop wants Crimson Mushrooms and Shell Fruit of superior or exquisite quality, and the Kinglor Forest only gives up those specimens when I search the right biomes and inspect them properly.

Pin both ingredients before I leave camp
My first fix was the Hunter's Guide. I opened the entries for Crimson Mushrooms and Shell Fruit and pinned both materials. In 2026, this remains the most reliable quality-of-life trick for foraging in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora. Once pinned, the correct plants glow yellow when I activate Na'vi Senses. That glow is not a guarantee of rarity, though. I still had to approach each specimen and press the Inspect input. A purple or orange circle around the icon tells me the sample is superior or exquisite and worth harvesting. If I see no suitable circle, I leave it alone. This one habit saved me from another wasted trip.
Shell Fruit: check the Thorny Wilds in southwest Silk Woods
Rare Shell Fruits grow in Thorny Wilds biomes throughout the Kinglor Forest. The pocket I found most consistent sits in the southwest corner of the Silk Woods. I marked the area on my map, walked the perimeter, and scanned the tree trunks. Shell Fruit grows directly on trunks rather than on the ground, so I kept my Na'vi Senses active and swept my view upward as I moved between trees. The biome is compact enough that a slow loop usually produces at least one superior or exquisite sample.
| Ingredient | Biome | Specific area | Growth spot | Rarity check |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Shell Fruit | Thorny Wilds | Southwest corner of Silk Woods | Tree trunks | Purple or orange circle after Inspect |
| Crimson Mushrooms | Swamp Lowlands | Shallow water northeast of Hometree at Stoneblade Ridge | Large roots emerging from water | Purple or orange circle after Inspect |
I recommend clearing enemies before I start inspecting. Nothing ruins a rare harvest like a sudden firefight while I am staring at a tree trunk. Once the area is quiet, I move in a loose circle, inspect every candidate, and harvest only the ones with the right circle. The difference between common and exquisite Shell Fruit is easy to miss if I rush.
Crimson Mushrooms: wade into Stoneblade Ridge
For the mushrooms, I left the trees behind and headed to a Swamp Lowlands biome in the Kinglor Forest. The shallow water northeast of the Hometree, around Stoneblade Ridge, is my preferred hunting ground. Superior and exquisite Crimson Mushrooms grow on the large roots that rise out of the water. I waded slowly, activated Na'vi Senses, and inspected the red caps clustered on those roots. The water is shallow enough that I never felt lost, but the roots create enough vertical clutter that a careless scan can miss a good sample. I found it helpful to stand still for a few seconds, pan across the root structure, and then move on.

Cook the salad in the right slot order
With rare Shell Fruit and rare Crimson Mushrooms in my pouch, I returned to the High Loom camp. There is a Cooking Station right there, and using it makes the rest of the quest painless. I placed the rare Shell Fruit in the top slot and the rare Crimson Mushrooms in the bottom slot. That order matters. The resulting dish is the Mushrooms & Fruit Salad, and I did not need to improvise any extra ingredients. After cooking, I opened the Food radial menu and ate the salad. Then I spoke with Sa'nop at the base of the High Loom camp. The quest completed, and I received a superior Armguard Mod plus some Clan Favor.
My 2026 checklist for A Meal and a Memory
-
🧭 Pin Shell Fruit and Crimson Mushrooms in the Hunter's Guide.
-
🌿 Search Thorny Wilds in southwest Silk Woods for Shell Fruit on tree trunks.
-
💧 Search the Swamp Lowlands northeast of Hometree at Stoneblade Ridge for Crimson Mushrooms on water roots.
-
👁️ Use Na'vi Senses and Inspect for a purple or orange circle before harvesting.
-
🍲 Cook at the High Loom camp station: Shell Fruit top, Crimson Mushrooms bottom.
-
🍽️ Eat the Mushrooms & Fruit Salad from the Food radial menu.
-
🗣️ Speak with Sa'nop at the base of the High Loom camp for the Armguard Mod and Clan Favor.
The quest has not changed in any way that breaks this route in 2026, and that is a relief. A Meal and a Memory is still a short, readable side quest once the rarity rule clicks. My advice is to slow down, pin the materials, inspect before harvesting, and treat the cooking station at High Loom camp as the final checkpoint. That approach turned a confusing forage run into one of the cleaner side quests I have completed in Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora this year.
